This led to a focus on two main areas of investigation:<br>\u2022 The <strong>social responsibility practices<\/strong> adopted by local businesses for the benefit of the surrounding area;<br>\u2022 The <strong>forms of collaboration<\/strong> among local businesses and the <strong>types of support<\/strong> provided by other local stakeholders to promote sustainability-oriented practices. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>RESEARCH AREA DESCRIPTION<\/strong><br><img 1rem;\"><br><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Sustainable development is defined as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.<br>A key element in the development of a territory is entrepreneurial activity and the role of&nbsp;businesses, whose operations are directly linked to the levels of production, employment, and well-being in a given local area. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"><br><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><br><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Sustainable development requires balancing three fundamental dimensions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Economic<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"> (creating economic value),<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Environmental<\/strong> <span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">(protecting the natural environment by minimizing pollution and the use of scarce resources)<\/span>;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Social<\/strong> (ensuring equity and social inclusion).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><br><\/strong><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>RESULTS AND PROPOSALS<\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/bergamo2035.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/crowd_roundtable.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1144 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/bergamo2035.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/crowd_roundtable.png\" alt=\"crowd_roundtable\" width=\"370\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bergamo2035.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/crowd_roundtable.png 370w, https:\/\/www.bergamo2035.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/crowd_roundtable-300x268.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 370px) 100vw, 370px\" \/><\/a>A possible tool to foster collaboration among local stakeholders on sustainability could be the creation of a <strong>structured working group<\/strong>, where businesses can explore ways to \u201cwork as a system\u201d on these issues and, subsequently, initiate concrete inter-company collaborations and partnerships with other local actors.<br>Key steps for this working group should include:<br>\u2022 <strong>Identifying the needs<\/strong> expressed by businesses and other local stakeholders regarding various aspects of sustainability;<br>\u2022 <strong>Identifying specific resources and skills<\/strong> that these businesses and stakeholders can contribute to addressing those needs;<br>\u2022 Organizing <strong>structured working sessions<\/strong> to implement collaborative and supportive actions on specific topics.<br>Ultimately, this working model aims to pursue four main objectives:<br>Knowledge sharing among companies regarding sustainability practices (including knowledge and information transfer from large to small and medium-sized enterprises&nbsp;as well as across sectors and business sizes);<br>\u2022 Identifying areas for operational collaboration among companies to implement social responsibility practices (e.g., joint investments to optimize logistics or employee mobility);<br>\u2022 Identifying shared support needs among companies and opening dialogue with other local stakeholders to co-design solutions that address those needs;<br>\u2022 Raising awareness and engagement among citizens and institutions on sustainability issues and the efforts already being undertaken by businesses in this area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>RESEARCH
