Project Profile – Special Pesenti Foundation Award Winner

MedHic is an exchange platform that serves a wide network of hospital companies collaborating to manage expiring or urgently needed medications.
A key feature of MedHic is an integrated tool connected to hospital IT systems, allowing the automated upload of soon-to-expire medications to make them available to the community. MedHic addresses the real needs of hundreds of hospital pharmacists. The digital exchange of medications between healthcare institutions offers several benefits:
• Emergency management: The platform connects hospital hubs in real time and automatically selects the nearest ones.
• Waste reduction: By extending a drug’s useful life. It prevents obsolescence and preserves residual value, while allowing hospitals to receive newer medications.
• Lower disposal costs and environmental benefits.
