An intelligent city where technologies and innovative solutions are developed together and placed at the service of new social models of responsibility and inclusiveness.
A city where “smarter citizens” become active agents of change, working to improve the urban environment they are part of.
This is the Bergamo of tomorrow, as envisioned in the study “Bergamo 2.035: An Idea of the City in a Changing World.”
The Bergamo 2.035 program, launched in January 2013 in collaboration with the Harvard Graduate School of Design, was created to build a comprehensive and long-term vision for the development of cities and territories, with a special focus on the future of the city of Bergamo. For this project, Bergamo has been ambitiously proposed as an “international case study” to develop strategies, models, and solutions aimed at creating a “prototype of an intelligent reality” that could serve as a reference for other urban contexts.
This research program has been carried out with the involvement of key stakeholders from the economic, social, and institutional spheres of Bergamo and its surrounding area. Each participant contributed their vision, perspectives, and interests, all united by a common goal: to promote sustainable economic development through the active participation of all stakeholders involved.
It is a vision of the city of the future—from infrastructure to the economic fabric, from mobility to social well-being—designed to be implemented within the context of Bergamo, laying the groundwork for its future and serving as a model for other cities and regions.
