Abstract

What makes an environment “responsive”? The book answers this question by presenting some key concepts in the form of a Design Manifesto. Articulated critically and from the perspective of leading experts, scholars and practitioners, the ideas are explored through of real “urban visions” and design projects spanning different moments, contexts and scales, from interactive artifacts to augmented cities. Drawing on years of research at Harvard GSD’s REAL Lab, the design work of INVIVIA and other innovative practices, the book investigates the experiential aspects of our relationship with space -technologically mediated- in the fields of architecture and urbanism, design and art.
